Fragrance of Christ
2 Corinthians 2: 15-16
15 For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which ascends] to God, [discernible both] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; 16 to the latter one an aroma from death to death [a fatal, offensive odour], but to the other an aroma from life to life [a vital fragrance, living and fresh]. And who is adequate and sufficiently qualified for these things? 17 For we are notlike many, [acting like merchants] peddling God’s word [short changing and adulterating God’s message]; but from pure [uncompromised] motives, as [commissioned and sent] from God, we speak [His message] in Christ in the sight of God.
We can look at carrying the Fragrance of Christ in two different ways. This scripture refers to our emotional and spiritual state. When we are in Christ, saved by His blood, we carry His Fragrance in other words His identity, and according to this scripture it is a sweet smelling fragrance which ascends before the throne of God. The price Christ paid for us on the cross is a sweet fragrance of an offering before the throne of God, and once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we are transformed into His image. Our sins which carry a stench before the throne of God are transformed and washed clean into a sweet smelling fragrance.
Imagine this picture of yourself, according to this scripture, before you are born again and washed by the blood of Christ you are perishing and you carry an aroma of death. You are covered in sin which carries a terrible smell and odour of death. Have you ever smelt something that died in the field and the smell attached to it? That is what we smell like when we are not living a life surrendered unto Christ and His ways, according to the Word of God, which is our guide and map of life. But when we surrender our lives to Christ and we allow His blood to wash us clean that smell is being transformed into a sweet smelling fragrance before God, because of the blood of Christ.
Christ was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins and it washes us clean from the filthiness of this world and from sin.
The scripture ends with the question: And who is adequate and sufficiently qualified for these things?
And the answer is:
For we are not like many, [acting like merchants] peddling God’s word [short changing and adulterating God’s message]; but from pure [uncompromised] motives, as [commissioned and sent] from God, we speak [His message] in Christ, in the sight of God.
Peddling means to do anything for personal advantage. Those who abuse the Word of God and the price Christ paid are like merchants, abusing the Word and Christ for their own advantage. These are the ones that carry an offensive and fatal odour before God which leads to death.
But those who speak the Word from a pure and uncompromised heart’s motive carry the Fragrance of Christ, washed and cleansed by the blood of Christ.
Then there is the physical side to Perfumes and Fragrances. What do we wear and what do we proclaim when wearing these Perfumes and Fragrances?
In 2009 Abba laid the desire on my heart to establish His Fragrance on earth through prophetic perfumes. Since then I have been searching high and low for a way to formulate these perfumes. In the process I met an awesome lady who mixed perfumes. She helped me to mix the first three. She formulated the mixes and gave me the perfumes to distribute amongst the women. For a few years after that the perfume laid dormant, but the Holy Spirit still kept the desire burning in my heart to mix prophetic fragrances.
In 2016, [exactly 7 years after my first attempt to start], Abba opened supernatural doors. He added the most amazing woman to assist me. I had a dream in 2009 where Abba showed me that He would place a woman next to me. She would walk the journey with me, support me and help me, and He did.
I met Bianca a few years ago, never knowing that we would end up here. Together we started an amazing new journey of bringing His Fragrance to earth in the form of prophetic perfumes.
Each perfume is mixed as the Holy Spirit leads us. We add specific essential oils to a perfume base. Each essential oil has a prophetic meaning. Every formulated fragrance is unique and represents a different prophetic meaning in the spiritual realm.
During the last 7 years, the Lord walked a journey of purification and sanctification with me (to make holy, set apart as sacred, consecrate). He purified me 7 times over like silver. Today I understand why I had to go through this purification to establish Abba’s Fragrance.
Then there are also the fragrances the world makes with exactly the same vision in mind, what you wear makes a declaration about you in the spirit. There are quite a few perfumes out there on the market, and this is not for all of them. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you as you buy fragrances in the stores. Look at the name of the perfume and what it means to you. For instance, will you wear something that says “Defiled” or rather something that says “Pure”. The meaning of the names of perfumes is very significant. Use wisdom when buying fragrances. We are called to be sanctified and set apart for Christ. We need to be different and to abstain from the ways of this world.
Pure – Silver
Psalm 12:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
The words and promises of the Lord are pure words,
like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.
Pure Silver represents the purification and the sanctification of the Bride of Christ. By wearing this, you declare that you are being set apart as the Bride of Christ, for purification and sanctification.
Esther went through a time of preparation to meet the king. In the same way, God sets us apart as His bride to be purified. The prophetic essential oils are the same as those Esther used!
This perfume contains Myrrh mixed with a perfume base.
Myrrh is a bitter herb with a sweet smell, the meaning of the word Myrrh is “bitter”. The Hebrew word mar, also marar, refers to the bitter taste of the gum that oozes from the bark of the tree.
So God takes our bitterness and turns it into a sweet smelling fragrance for Him.
This perfume declares Healing and Preparation over you.
Destiny – Gold
1 Peter 2:9
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a [special] people forGod’sown possession, so that you may proclaim the Excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.
This perfume represents authority; ruling out of heavenly places. After Esther went through the process of purification she was crowned as queen. She was placed in a position of royalty and authority.
This Fragrance contains the essential oils found in Exodus 30: 23-31, mixed with a perfume oil base.
Cinnamon means Holiness.
The description of cinnamon, in the Holy anointing oil, is referred to as being “sweet”, in Hebrew sweet is “bosem” which means fragrance. To me this shows prophetically that once we have been purified and healed, we give off a sweet fragrance in the Spirit.
Zarach – Arise
Isaiah 60:2b……. “but the Lord shall arise (zarach) upon you, and His Glory shall be seen on you”.
Zarach is the Hebrew word for arise which means to “burst forth”. In this scripture it says that the Lord God shall burst forth over you. As you wear this fragrance you declare that the presence of the Holy Spirit shall burst forth over you and His Glory shall be seen over you.
This perfume contains Lily of the Valley perfume oil mixed with a perfume oil base.
Lilly of the Valley signifies – Fruitfulness, Fragrance, Humbleness of Jesus, Beauty and Purity.
When we wear this we wear the Fragrance of Christ, which beautifies us from the inside out, His fragrance bursts forth over us.
